Word Families, Number Lines, and Our Elf!

My first graders have been working hard in their word family books! I originally posted about them HERE, but I wanted to update you on how it’s going. Each student has their own word family book that they keep in their desk. We pull it out about two times a week and we do a word family together each time. I put the pages in the order we will be learning about each word family and I added my own page numbers to the bottom of each page. Every time we work on these, I remind my students to do their best writing and coloring, because they get to take these books home at the end of the year and share them with their families!

We have also been reviewing our number line skills by using activities from my Number Line Packet on TpT. My students loved playing the Number Line Race game!

I’ll post more about our Elf on the Shelf a little later this week. My students are completely smitten and they love her to pieces!! One of my favorite quotes was from a little boy who walked in the classroom and said, ” Hey! Where is the Gnome??!” I seriously died. HAHAH!

Tomorrow our elf will bring us this Pete the Cat book and I know my students will be thrilled! We are all about Pete the Cat and they are definitely the most read books in our classroom!!
